Keeping diets and always exercising doesn't actually have to be because of a reason. Diets in their essence mean, strict meals with only a few things allowed. But the idea of staying healthy is to always take care of yourself. A diet doesn't necessarily have to mean something strict. For example nowadays people eat anything, at any hour in large quantity.
